Yesterday was Day 2 of the ARCA test, and it was the first time for drafting. It was a good opportunity for Will to get experience drafting with other cars. Today, day 3 of testing, went great thanks to the team and Roush-Yates engines. We were the fastest at 180.977 mph. A special thanks to Bob Peters of Clarksville Schwinn and Andy Pennington for making this test possible. Will and the team are now headed home.
The morning practice session went good, Will and the team have been trying different gears. Will was 13th fastest during this first session. The afternoon session will allow drafting. Pictures are being posted periodically from the track, use the link on the home page. Live timing and scoring available on ARCA's website.
The practice sessions went good today, we only turned about 16-18 laps. All of the track time Friday was limited to single car runs, with no drafting permitted. Session 1, the car was a little tight but we posted the 16th quickest time at 178.674mph. We only ran about 5 laps in the first session. Session 2, we posted the 9th fastest time at 179.777. Eric, Lee, Davey, Larry, Bill and Andy worked hard today. Open testing will resume Saturday morning with more single car runs, and the first drafting set to take place after lunch. We will bring you periodic updates throughout the day tomorrow and hope to have some more pictures posted from the track.

Will will be testing in a Ford Fusion that was prepared at Kimmel Racing's Clarksville race shop, in preparation for Speed Weeks 2009. Will would like to thank everyone for their support in making his dream a reality! Test speeds can be viewed live on www.arcaracing.com starting Friday at 9 a.m..
As of today I am in Orlando, FL at the PRI show visiting product sponsors at all the various booths. Weather is really nice compared to back home. Getting some great responses from a number of potential sponsors. Will bring you update in the next few days as I am here thru Saturday.
I would like to thank those sponsors that made it possible for me to compete in the Kings Ransom 300 at Memphis. Without their support, I would not be able to do what I have this year. They are Clarksville Schwinn, GlobalTech, Riteway Industries, Dawn Durbin, DDS and Newlons. The guys that were able to go and help me were Larry Meadors, Eric Beyl, Lee Riddle, John Bell, Andy Pennington and my dad.
Tough weekend at Memphis, after qualifying 14th, raced up to 11th after the first 100 laps, but noticed a slight miss in the motor. Changed 4 tires during the first break, noticed a couple of plug wire boots cracked. We repaired the boots, and thought that would take care of the problem only to have the engine miss return and become worse after the half way point of the race. Really struggled throughout the rest of the second 100 segment. After the start of the final 100 lap leg of the race, the engine shut off at 207 laps, regulating to a 22nd place finish.
Race just over, Will completed 210 of the 300 laps due to motor problems. Thanks for everyone's support! We will have some pictures and video posted in the next few days.
11/15 - Early practice went well, qualified 14th, then there was a brief rain shower. They have dried the track and the race is getting ready to start. Eric, Larry, Lee, John and everyone one else - thanks for your hard work.Updates are being posted on MySpace, Facebook and Twitter...along with pictures from the track. See link on home page of website. ---11/14--- Practice went good, crew made some gear changes and the car got better as Will got more comfortable with the track. Thanks to the crew and sponsors, without their help this would not be possible. Scott - we wish you were down here with us in Memphis, but we have are keeping your Mom and family in our thoughts and prayers...we wish here a speedy recovery.
Friday recap from Nashville SuperSpeedway: The Kimmel Racing team had planned on bring the same car to Nashville that was raced at Pocono, but unfornuately it is not fixable from the accident. Therefore the team quickly started working on the same car they race at Salem Speedway in April. Not knowing how the car was going to handle or perform, Frank took the #44 Ford out for 5 laps to check everything out. He then came in for the driver change and Will went out to run about 5 laps before coming back in to make adjustments. Will, Frank, Bill and the entire team worked throughout the 3 hour practice session to get the car ready for the race. Will was able to get a feel for the car and race track, turning approximately 38 laps during the practice session. Qualifying is scheduled for 11:30am EST. The race is scheduled to start at 4:30pm EST and will be LIVE on the SPEED Channel. There will also be live timing and scoring of qualifications and the race on ARCA's website. Live updates from the track will be posted when available on Will's website (there is a link on the "Home" page). Also, look for a complete race recap Saturday night to be posted here on Will's news. Thanks again for all your support of Will and the entire Kimmel Racing team.
Will just climbed in the #44 Ford for Uncle Frank at Nashville SuperSpeedway for practice. Frank took the first 5 laps in practice, then came in for driver change. Live Timing & Scoring is available on ARCA's website. Complete details will be posted after practice. Thanks for your support of Will, Frank and Bill and the entire Kimmel Racing team.
Just a quick note, at this time plans are being finalized for Will to sub for his Uncle Frank in the Saturday's ARCA race at Nashville SuperSpeedway. Frank is scheduled to start the ARCA race on Saturday and then climb out of the car during the first caution. As many know, Frank was involved in an accident at Pocono last Saturday and was held at a local hospital overnight for observation. Frank has been released but has been advised by his personal physican to take it easy. More details on this will be posted as they become available. Saturday's race is live on SPEED at 4:30pm
Over the past couple weeks I have been busy with my lawn service and the ARCA team, but I thought that it was very important to take the time to thank everyone who helped me during the ASA weekend at Salem. As many of you know it was my first ASA race, my first 200 lap event, and I was very nervous going in. Not being able to race much this year did not help matters. First and foremost I could not have done it without my crew, they worked many long hours preparing the car for the race. Thanks guys.I really appreciate all of the ARCA guys coming up Saturday after a long night in Kentucky to help out during the race. Finally, what made everything come together was all of the great sponsors that made this possible. The weekend could not have happened without their support.

Exciting news…Will is going to be back in action at his hometown track, Salem Speedway…and soon. Over the weekend, Will has entered the ASA Challenge race this Saturday, July 19th. Although this is a last minute deal, Will is very excited to return to the high banks of Salem Speedway. Last year, Will became the youngest driver ever to win a Super Late Model Championship at the famous race track. For those who do not know, it has been a very busy 2008. Will is the jackman for his uncle, Frank Kimmel’s ARCA team for the 2008 season. Although Will has not been in the driver’s seat as much as he would have liked to so far in 2008, he has been very active in the racing world. Helping out Uncle Frank is not new to Will, as he has been part of the ARCA team the past few years, just not as a full time over-the-wall team member. A few weeks ago, Will helped out Wayne Hixson by starting his ARCA car at Cayuga Motor Speedway in Nelles Corners Ontario. Will was able to get in some practice laps and qualified 26th . After the drop of the green flag, Will made 2 laps then pulled in, where he quickly got ready for his position back on the Kimmel Racing team. It seems like never a weekend goes by without Will being at a race track, whether driving, working or as a spectator! The schedule for this weekend’s ASA race has been posted, just click on the schedule button. Will is going to be practicing Friday afternoon at Salem Speedway, then he will be headed to Kentucky Speedway for the ARCA Re/Max race, which is scheduled to start at 8pm. The ASA Challenge Race, which is 200 laps, is scheduled to start Saturday at 8:30pm at Salem Speedway. Will is also going to be at the 2nd Annual ACL Fan Fest this Thursday, July 17th at American Commercial Lines (Jeff Boat) with his car and team. Come out and bring the family to this local event that will take place from 5pm-8pm with an autograph session to also include some Nascar Craftsman Truck drivers and ARCA drivers. More information will be posted regarding the car, team, etc as the week progresses. Thanks to everyone for their continued support of Will Kimmel Racing.
Welcome to the new Will Kimmel Racing site. Look for the new photo gallery in the next couple days and a complete update on 2008 including Will's first ARCA start at Cayuga Motor Speedway in Canada. Please keep the Heavrin family in your thoughts and prayers. Will's Godfather, Tony Heavrin's mother, Annette passed away on Tuesday, July 1st. Please also keep Scott Heinemann in your thoughts as he recovers from surgery. As many of your know, Scott is part of the Will Kimmel Racing family. Thanks to everyone for your continued support of Will Kimmel Racing.
Will's day was cut short, as he was out of the race on lap 70. For detailed race information, click on "Live Race Updates" on the home page. Thanks for everyone's support of Will Kimmel Racing and a special thanks the the #44 team (Scott, Eric, Davey) for all their hardwork. There will be more pictures and video posted in the next week. Happy Easter to everyone.
